A thoughtful approach

Clarity before decisions.

Financial protection can feel complicated. My role is to listen, help identify what matters most, and explain insurance-based options in plain language.

I’m Dante R. Avena, an independent financial professional. I work with individuals and families who want a more structured way to understand protection—and with professionals curious about building an independent business in financial services.

Protection beyond the death benefit

Life insurance while you’re living

Some life insurance policies include living benefits that may let you access part of the death benefit while you are alive if you experience a qualifying terminal, chronic, or critical illness. Eligibility and benefits depend on the policy, and using them reduces the amount left for beneficiaries.

For those approaching retirement

Fixed Indexed Annuities

For those approaching retirement, full market exposure may feel like more risk than they want to carry. I can help review whether eligible retirement assets may be transferred or rolled over into a Fixed Indexed Annuity. These insurance contracts are not directly invested in the stock market. If the market index goes down, you generally do not lose contract value just because the market fell. In a down period, the interest added to your contract may be 0% instead. Depending on the contract and the options selected, lifetime income options may be available.

Important Fixed Indexed Annuity details

“Index crediting” is the method the insurer uses to calculate how much interest, if any, is added to the contract based partly on the performance of a market index. Negative index performance generally does not directly reduce a Fixed Indexed Annuity’s contract value through index crediting, although the indexed interest credited for that period may be 0%. Caps, participation rates, spreads, withdrawals, surrender charges, optional rider costs, contract terms, and the issuing insurer’s claims-paying ability can affect results. Transfers and rollovers must follow applicable plan and tax rules, and product availability and suitability vary by individual circumstances.

Discuss your retirement goals

Explore coverage with Ethos

Know what you’re looking for and need coverage quickly?

Term Life and Final Expense: You may use my Ethos link to explore options and complete an eligible application independently if you feel confident choosing coverage on your own. I’m also available to answer questions and help you through the process.

Indexed Universal Life (IUL): An IUL is a type of permanent life insurance that can provide lifelong coverage while building cash value based partly on a market index. When properly funded and structured, available cash value may be accessed for supplemental retirement income. The policy is not directly invested in the market, so negative index performance does not create a negative index credit. Policy charges, loans, and withdrawals can still reduce cash value and the death benefit.

IUL and JIUL applications: Indexed Universal Life and Junior Indexed Universal Life are not self-service products. They must be structured and completed with a licensed agent, such as me, so the design can be based on the applicant’s goals, circumstances, eligibility, and available product options.

Important IUL/JIUL details

IUL and JIUL are life-insurance products—not securities or direct investments in a market index. A 0% floor means a negative index return will not produce a negative index interest credit, so market declines do not directly reduce policy value through index crediting. Contractual policy fees and insurance charges are still deducted and can reduce policy value. Withdrawals reduce available cash value. Under the policies I offer, a policy loan does not directly withdraw from cash value; any unpaid loan balance and interest are deducted from the death benefit. Loans and withdrawals are policy transactions—not market losses—and remain subject to the policy’s terms. Caps, participation rates, and illustrated non-guaranteed results also vary. Review the carrier illustration and policy details.

More than one carrier may fit: Ethos can be a convenient way to pursue coverage quickly, but it is not the only carrier I can work with. Depending on your circumstances and what you are looking for, another carrier may be more appropriate. If Ethos does not feel like the right fit, reach out and I can help you explore other available options.

Compensation disclosure: If you use my Ethos link and coverage is successfully placed, I may receive compensation—whether you complete an eligible self-service application independently or work with me for assistance.

Product availability, eligibility, coverage amounts, approval, and the application process depend on individual circumstances, underwriting, policy terms, carrier availability, and applicable state requirements. Exploring an option does not guarantee coverage.
